Glossary
One row per term. A term gets its own note only when it needs more than a few lines, like ADC.
| Term | Meaning | More |
|---|---|---|
| ADC (Analog-to-digital converter) | Turns the signal into numbers | ADC |
| AFDD (Arc Fault Detection Device) | Detects arc faults in AC circuits; tested to IEC 62606 | |
| Common Mode Choke (CMC) | Magnetic component that suppresses common-mode electrical noise | |
| Decoupling network | Circuit used to isolate/block certain electrical paths or noise during testing | |
| FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) | Turns a signal from time into frequency: bins of sine waves at different frequencies (Hz); assumes any wave is a sum of sine waves | An Interactive Introduction to Fourier Transforms |
| Line Impedance Network | Network used to reproduce/control the electrical impedance seen by the inverter | |
| QAT (Quantization Aware Training) | Training that simulates int8 rounding, so the model keeps its accuracy after quantization | What is Quantization Aware Training? | IBM |
| RSD (Rapid Shutdown Device) | Switches PV modules off on command, so the string’s DC voltage drops fast | JMS-F SUNSPEC RAPID SHUTDOWN DEVICE - The easy module level rapid shutdown solution |
| Unwanted Trip Test | Test to make sure the AFCI does not trip during normal but noisy inverter operation |
